General solutions
The contest software is compatible with the most recent versions of most browsers. If you are facing problems, please make sure that you are using the most recent version of your browser.
You may encounter errors when trying to open the contest software in multiple browser windows at once. Please make sure the contest software is open in only one browser window or tab.

Registering as a contestant
Please register only one single account. If you experience trouble when creating your account or when logging in, please do not try to create a second account with a different e-mail address. Instead, please send an e-mail to the address info [at] pridephotoaward [dot] org.

Confirmation e-mail
After registering as a contestant you should receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your registration. If you do not see such an e-mail within one hour after having registered, please check the spam folder of your e-mail account. If you cannot localize the e-mail either in your inbox or spam folder, please send an e-mail to the address info [at] pridephotoaward [dot] org. We will then manually confirm your account.

Uploading single photos
Click ‘Manage photos’ on the right hand menu. On the left hand side of Manage Photos screen you will see the four categories. First select the category Single Images.
To upload a SINGLE image, click the ‘Up’ arrow in the middle window.
Click on the photo to enter the photo title and a description for the photo in the lower part of the window.
All photos are renamed automatically by the software and given a code. When you upload a photo you will first see this coded filename. When you have entered a title for the photo, the title will appear instead of the coded filename.

Uploading photos as a series
Click ‘Manage photos’ on the right hand menu. On the left hand side of Manage Photos screen you will see the four categories. First select the category in which you want to enter your work. A description of the categories can be found here. PLEASE DO NOT select the category ‘Single Images’ as this category is not meant for series.
To enter a SERIES, click the ‘+’ arrow in the middle window and enter the title of the series.
Click on the series title in the middle window. You can add a description for the series in the lower part of the window.

To add photos in a series first click on the series title in the middle window, then click on the ‘Up’ arrow in the right hand window.

All photos are renamed automatically by the software and given a code. When you upload a photo you will first see this coded filename. When you have entered a title for the photo, the title will appear instead of the coded filename.

Click on a photo to enter the photo title and a description for the photo in the lower part of the window.
Please make sure that the photos are in the order in which you want the jury to see them. You can move photos by clicking on them in the right hand window and dragging them to a new position. The photo files will then be renamed in order to reflect the new order. If you have already entered a title for the photos, you will just see the screen flicker for a moment while the files are being renamed.

Adding titles and descriptions
You can click on a series name to add a description for that series.

If you click on an image, you can add a title and a description for that image in the lower part of the window. There are separate text boxes for the title, and for the description & artits’s statement.

Please add descriptions and titles when available, and please include an artist statement in addition to the description of the photo (series).

These descriptions are shown to the jury as background information to clarify the context in which the images were made.

For the artist statement we ask every entrant to reflect on their position as a maker in relation to the subject matter of the photo(series), since their personal experiences and views have helped shape the photo(series). It can, for instance, be relevant to know whether the story is being told through the eyes of a cisgender, heterosexual photographer, or through the eyes of a someone who identifies as transgender, intersex, lesbian, gay, bisexual, genderqueer (et cetera). Please feel free to include information about the maker’s age, social-economic status, religion, political or artistic views if those factors are relevant in relation to the subject matter of the photo(series) and the context in which it was made. For instance: what inspired you to make the photo (series)? What message do you intend to convey, or what goal do you hope to achieve with the photo (series)?

The maximum length for the description and artist statement is 10.000 characters.

Problems when uploading files
If you try to upload files that are larger than 10MB or when you have reached the maximum number of photo allowed per series (10) or overall (30), you will get an error message.

If you are uploading a file and you see the upload percentage tracker reach 100% but the photo does not appear and there is no error message, please check that the file you uploaded is a JPEG / JPG file. Files of a size larger than 10MB or formats other than jpegs can be uploaded, but are filtered out.

Please change the file size and/or format to a jpeg of max. 10MB and try again.

Finalizing your submission
If you click the ‘finish’ flag at the top of the upload screen, you can check how many files you have uploaded during the current upload session (including any files you deleted after uploading) and the current number of images you have submitted overall (for all upload sessions).

When you have uploaded all the photos that you wish to enter into the contest and have added titles and descriptions for every series and photo, you are done. You do not need to take any specific actions to ‘finalize’ your entry.

This also means that you can alter your entry at any time before the contest ends.

Every photo, title and description that is present at the time the contest ends will be considered your final entry.

If we have any questions about your entry, we will send you an e-mail. Please check your e-mail regularly, in case we have any questions.
