5th edition Pride Photo Award starts with a bang: 3.800 photographs submitted

It’s a Wrap!!
Put down your cameras ladies and gentlemen, the 5th edition of the Pride Photo Award has come to an end and all that remains is for the judges to huddle together in a dark room and develop the results. I know we’ve all gone digital but I couldn’t resist!
This year photographers were asked to submit photos in four categories: Gender, Open, Single Images and the 2015 theme category: ‘Stories of Love and Pride’. The quality and imagination of the work was extraordinary this year and the award ceremony promises to be a treat for the eyes.
Even more photographs were received this year from all over the world with the total rising to 3800. The competition remains strongly international with 60 different nationalities taking part, keeping in line with our mission statement to the celebrate diversity. With 400 entrants this year, the contest continues to grow: “It is wonderful to see so many talented photographers bringing us these gripping and heartwarming stories from every corner over the world, showing us the beauty of diversity. You can see that they are not just telling stories about love, but feeling it too: such great passion for their work and their subjects. I can’t wait to see which stories the jury selects this year,” says Margriet van der Linden, chair of the board.
It seems as if word about the competition is spreading in Italy, with the number of Italian entries almost doubling since 3 Italian winners were named last year. Eastern Europe also saw an increase in the number of entries.
So, while we wait for the judges to make their selection we take off our hats to all you talented photographers out there who have contributed to making this competition the most exciting, challenging and diverse so far.

Pride Photo Award is an annual international contest for photos about sexual and gender diversity.
